Summary of Energy Saving

        Facilities Management Office has since long implemented various energy saving activities. Indicated here below are annual CO2 emission avoidance in tonnes (T) as a result of some major activities as from year 1997 onward, with 93% from Academic Building and 7% from Student Halls & Staff Quarters. Unless otherwise stated, all energy saving activities have been implemented in Academic Building.

Annual accummulated CO2 emission avoidance in Year 2013 = 11,437 tonnes.

Equivalent to total effect of removal in campus 71,200 set continuous operating 36W fluorescent luminaires.

Without such on-going energy saving activities implementation, campus CO2 emission should have been increased by 25%

on top of the actual CO2 emission 45,411 tonnes in year 2013.
